Barbara Arrowsmith Young Barbara Arrowsmith Young is the founder and Director of Arrowsmith School and Arrowsmith Program and developed the program as a result of her own personal journey with learning disfficulties. In grade one, Barbara was diagnosed with a mental block which saw her have trouble with reading, processing concepts and dealt with being physically uncoordinated. As part of her journey, Barbara worked hard to overcome these obstacles as best she could, now holding both a B.A.Sc. in Child Studies from the University of Guelph, and a Master’s degree in School Psychology from the University of Toronto. It was after her studies that she began to research and observe learning difficulties in preschool children and eventually this led to the creation of the first exercise of the Arrowsmith Program, designed to improve logical reasoning. After seeing success with this exercise, Barbara developed more exercises which targeted other functions of the brain, which has led to the program we know today.
