Teddy Project 24th March 2017 3Bridges Reading to Teddy project was a fabulous event that gathered all our early years support volunteers and mothers with children. The event was held at Penshurst RSL club, attendees enjoyed some refreshing drinks and amazing food. We had a visiting speaker – Gerry Marr – Chief Executive SESLHD originally from Scotland , who introduced all the relevant aspects of the Scottish based studies on parenting interventions with a particular focus on reading to children. 3Bridges launched the project Reading to Teddy, where volunteers will visit a mother, who needs support and bring a book with her to read to the child and the teddy. The aim is to continue this modelling of reading to the toddler and Teddy each day. 3Bridges strongly encourages you to read to your child everyday as according to Scottish based studies, the time of reading and bonding has very positive lasting effects to the child and family. Additionally, we had an amazing mother of 2 little kids telling her story of how she was struggling with anxiety and how 3Bridges Community volunteer have made her life unbelievably easier.
